MANILA (AFP) - Philippine consumers already battling to cope with record rice and fuel prices can expect to pay more for beef and pork, media reports said Saturday.
Okay, enough with the oil stuff for a while...
Beef and pork prices have reportedly already been doubled this year. According to Jun Lim, Vice President of the Cold Chain Association of the Philippines, 90% of our country's beef supply is imported from Brazil.
Now check this out:
The price of beef in January was $2.65 or P114 per kilo, and in May it was $4.50 or P193 per kilo. Pork was $1.90 or P81 pesos in January, and $2.50 or P107 in May. Quite a difference, no?
Well, as of now the effects aren't that felt yet because a lot of what is sold in the market are meats that came in around 3 months ago and were in storage. When this 3 month old supply ends, maybe around August or September, brace yourselves.
Wait Jugo, what about the chicken?
Well, chicken's stable right now because most of our supply is produced locally. (Alright!)
So guys... what can you say about this?

NFA warehouse robbed of cash by 7 men posing as cops
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/metro/view/20080601-140142/NFA-warehouse-robbed-of-cash-by-7-men-posing-as-cops retrieved June 1, 2008.
This article talks about 7 armed men acting as cops, telling the guards that they will inspect the rice of the warhouse if it meets the requirements of having a healthy environment for storing rice. This incident happened in Malanday, Valenzuela City last Sunday(June 1,2008). Why are there many people doing crimes nowadays? Is it because of the high poverty rate of the Philippines?
What I'm trying to say in this article is that why do we always hear negative stories about the Philippines? Is there really no hope for the Philippines to redeem itself? I mean few years back, the Philippines is still in good hands. What happened now? People are more greedy with money and it doesn't have to be this way. Stealing and kidnapping..... People should think of alternative ways to earn money. Well, for one they can start a business. We don't really need to be rich to start our own business. We can pick up metal cans and other useful items and sell them to people who need it. We always hear negative stories about the Philippines because the government doesn't concentrate on the poor. They are more focused on burdening the people with heavy taxes so they can earn money. How greedy can the government get? I mean there's hope for the Philippines to redeem itself. New system, new management is the answer! The ones who should govern the people are the ones who are not easily tempted with money. There we go... solutions to this article!
To summarize my opinion, people can get out of their low social class if they 1) find alternative ways to earn money and 2) New government that can help the poor. The ones who are leaning more on the selfless side rather than than the selfish side. I hope many of you will comment on my opinion and feel free to give suggestions on what people should do to avoid crimes like this.
