A proposal to make text messaging free may force companies to eliminate the service since it will no longer be profitable to maintain it.
What the hell? This is the reason why we subscribe to cellphone companies in the first place. Calling people is a hassle and is too expensive for some people. Also, calls can only be made one at a time. Text messages depend on how fast your fingers are, a trait that is widespread among avid Filipino texters.
If you make it free of charge, companies will not be encouraged to invest in the business because it will not be profitable.
Then don't make it free. Plain and simple. Money may be a local issue right now, but this is NOT the answer. Cellphone companies will close down because they will no longer make money. This makes the money problems in the country even WORSE. Just don't do this. Please?
As long as the government has not filed a petition to cut text messaging or make them free, there is no issue.
Should the Philippine government file this petition, people will lose faith and rally. This may start another EDSA revolution. Think about it. A civil revolution for something as simple as text messaging? Just maintain the text messaging privileges, at any acceptable cost, and there will be no problems.
Please comment. Thanks.

Who's the stupid idiot in the government to recommend free text!
Yeah, well the phone companies should make texting much more affordable for all of us. I mean free isn't really going to help anyone but the consumers. The producers of course needs the money to run the company so the answer is just make it affordable for all of us! =) My 2 cents..
The phone companies should give us more benefits so we can enjoy more
